Who we are:

With the increasing cost of repairing and maintaining our historic churches, The Guardians of the Village Churches has been established to address the challenge of ensuring that the beautiful buildings of St. Bartholomew's Wickham Bishops and St Nicholas' Little Braxted are preserved for the next generation – to secure their future as multi-use resources and returning them to the heart of the communities they serve.  Join today and become a Guardian of the Village Churches.

We are lucky to have these beautiful churches in our villages, which have been welcoming families, individuals and community groups for generations.

The time has come to undertake important restoration and maintenance work to the buildings to ensure that they are ready in every way possible to welcome people from the local community as well as visitors from further afield.

If you are able to make an online donation directly towards the refurbishment work, we would be extremely grateful. You can do so easily using the link below.

“There is no doubt that modern life has had an impact on community spirit, and initiatives like this which help to preserve our social spaces are critical in fostering a sense of togetherness. Please get involved if you can.”  - Joanna Lumley OBE FRGS , Patron
